III. Consular fees.

Documents that require consular intervention are subject to different fees, including all legalizations and visas. For information regarding consular fees, please contact this Consulate General. Payment could be done by money order or certified cheque . If sending by mail enclose a pre-paid registered mail self addressed envelope or a pre-paid return courrier waybill.



IV. Legalization of Documents.

 

Authentication of Canadian documents 

Canada is not a member of The Hague Convention. Therefore, all documents to be validated must be authenticated through diplomatic channels.

a) To authenticate the following Canadian documents:

·         Certificates of Birth, Death, Marriage and Divorce;

·         University Transcripts and Diplomas;

·         Police certificates and criminal records.

·         Judicial documents.

. Documents issued or certified by a Notary or a Lawyer.

you must do the following:

A Canadian official from the Department of Legalizations will stamp and sign the document in order to authenticate the signature of the competent authority who issued the certificate or diploma.

2.        Present it at the Consulate General or, if sent by mail, ask the Canadian Department of Legalizations to send the authenticated document to:

Since the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade will send the document to the Consulate General, you have to include an envelope or postage stamps. The Argentine Consul will authenticate the signature of the Canadian legalizations official once the corresponding consular fee per document has been paid to the Consulate General, either in cash or by certified cheque or money order to the order of “Consulate General of Argentina”, which will be annexed in a closed envelope addressed to the Consulate General of Argentina, along with the documentation forwarded to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada. This type of cheques is available at any Canadian bank.

b) To authenticate commercial documents:

The commercial documents must be certify by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade - Legal Advisory Division or the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Note: The signature of the Canadian authority should have been previously registered in the consular office by that authority. Signatures must be in original form and name and title stamped or printed under the signature. Photostat copies must be certified by the same authority that issued the original documents and must bear the proper seal.


V. Visas.

1. Tourist visa.
Canadian nationals do not need a visa when going as tourists to Argentina. Canadian tourists may stay in Argentina up to three (3) months. Other nationalities, please contact the argentine consulate of your jurisdiction. There is no vaccination requirement to enter Argentina.

 

Please note that even if you do not require a visa for tourism purposes, Immigration personnel may request proof, upon entry into Argentina,  that you intend to visit the country for tourism purposes only (round trip ticket, Hotel reservation, sufficient funds for your stay, etc.)

2A) TRANSITORY VISA  - BUSINESS

 1)       Formulaire de demande de visa dument rempli

 3)       Lettre d’invitation (en espagnol) de la compagnie/organisation en Argentine avec l’information suivante :

 

a) Le nom, prénom, nationalité et  nro. de passeport du requérant.

b) Une brève description de l’activité à réaliser en Argentine.

c) Période du séjour en Argentine

This letter must contain:

a)     The name, nationality and passport number of the applicant.

b)    A brief description of activity to be realized in Argentina.

c)     Length of stay in Argentina

 DANS LE CAS OU VOUS N’AVEZ PAS L’INVITATION DE L’ARGENTINE :

 Lettre rédigée a l’attention du Consul Général  d’Argentine, faisant la demande du visa transitoire.

     Cette lettre doit contenir:

 

a)Une confirmation que toutes les dépenses seront assumées par la

   compagnie/organisation

b) Le nom, prénom, nationalité et  nro. de passeport du requérant.

c) Le poste que le requérant occupe dans l’entreprise

d) Une brève description de l’activité à réaliser en Argentine.

d)    Période du séjour en Argentine

 

(Cette lettre doit être signée par un responsable, autre que le demandeur et rédigée ou traduite en espagnol. De plus, elle doit être signée devant un Notaire, Avocat  ou un Commissaire à l’assermentation ou la Chambre de Commerce du Canada.

IN CASE YOU DON’T HAVE AN INVITATION FROM ARGENTINE :

Letter from the Company/Organization addressed to the Consul General requesting the transitory visa.

This letter must contain:

a)     A confirmation that the company/organization assumes financial responsibility for the applicant.

b)    The name, nationality and passport number of the applicant.

c)     The position/title of the applicant within the company.

d)    A brief description of activity to be realized in Argentina.

e)     Length of stay in Argentine

 

 (This letter must be signed by a responsible party, other than the applicant and written or translated into Spanish. Furthermore, the letter must be signed before a Notary, Lawyer or Commissioner of Oath or the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

 

4)      Copie de la réservation du billet/itinéraire (aller-retour).          

         Copy of flight reservation/itinerary (round trip). 

 

5)          Copie de la reserve d’ Hôtel

Copy of Hotel reservation

6)          References bancaires si le requérant n’a pas une entreprise qui le

           répresente

           Bank references if the applicant don’t have a representative

2B) TRANSITORY VISA

(Technical, Professional, Artistic, Religious, Scientist, Conference etc..)

This visa is valid for a period of up to one (1) month and it is renewable in  Argentina.

      1)       Visa request form completed in full

 3)      2 photographs

 

4)      Letter (in Spanish) from the Company/Organization in Argentina

             This letter must contain:

a)      The name, nationality and passport number of the applicant.

b)      A description of the activity to be realized in Argentina.

c)      Length of stay  in Argentina.

 

   5) Copy of flight reservation/itinerary (round trip).

   6)  Copy of the Hotel reservation

   7)  Certified cheque or money order: Canadian dollars

3. Temporary Visa (Work visa) .


You must have previously obtained an Entry Permit (Permiso de Ingreso) from Immigration (Migraciones) authorities in Argentina. Employers usually submit the request for an Entry Permit locally. Please allow sufficient time for processing. Once the Entry Permit has been received at this Office, you will be required to present further documents at this Consulate General. For more information on Temporary work visas and to obtain the forms necessary for your application please call (514) 842-6582 ext 25, during our office hours. Please note that applicants for visas for stays of one year or more will require a personal appointment at this office:
 

a) Completed visa request form. Visa Form.
b) Valid passport or Canadian travel document. Canadian passports must have a minimum validity of one year.
c) Corporate/organization letter addressed to the Consul General of  Argentina  requesting the temporary visa.

This letter must contain:

1)     A confirmation that the company/organization assumes financial responsibility for the applicant.

2)    The name, nationality and passport number of the applicant.

3)     The position/title of the applicant within the company.

4)    A brief description of activity to be realized in Argentina.

 

(This letter must be signed by a responsible party, other than the applicant and written or translated into Spanish.

Furthermore, the letter must be signed before a Notary/Lawyer and authenticated, respectively, by the Chambre of Notaries/Bar Association of Quebec, Foreign Affairs in Ottawa or the Office of the Lieutenant Governor in the case of the Maritime provinces)

d) Royal Canadian Mounted Police (R.C.M.P.) certificate of "No record". Not necessary for applicants under sixteen (16) years of age. (attach spanish translation by public translator and certified at the Province’s Order/Board of Translators )

eSworn declaration of no-international records signed by the applicant before a Consular agent or before a Notary Public registered with the Chamber of Notaries.  Not necessary for applicants under sixteen (16) years of age.

f) Full sized Birth certificate (paper form, not plastic card – containing parents names) issued by the Provincial Vital Statistics, bearing a pen written signature of the Registrar General. (attach spanish translation by public translator and certified at the Province’s Order/Board of Translators ) The Birth Certificate will NOT BE RETURNED to you.

g) Four photographs (4 by 4 centimeters)

h) Marriage or divorce certificate if applicable. (attach spanish translation by public translator and certified at the Province’s Order/Board of Translators )

i) Certified Cheque or Money Order in Canadian dollars


4. Student Visas

5. Immigration Visas. (investor/ argentinean's relatives - Please contact the Consulate in order to know the special requirements in this cases)


A letter (pls attach spanish translation) addressed to the Consul General requesting the visa and the following documents:

a) Completed visa request form.Visa Form.
b) Valid passport. Canadian passports must have a minimum validity of one year.
c) R.C.M.P. certificate of "No record" covering the last five years.
d) Sworn declaration of non-international records signed by the applicant in the Consular Office or before a Notary Public and certified by the Chamber of Notaries, Lieutenant Governor's office, or similar association for your province. Pls contact the Consulate for the form.
e) Four photographs (4 by 4 centimeters, 3/4 right profile, head and shoulders).
f) Marriage or divorce certificate if applicable.
g) Original Birth certificate (paper form, not plastic card) issued by the Provincial Vital Statistic, bearing a pen written signature of the Registrar General. Pls check Legalizations. The Birth Certificate will not be returned to you.
Note: An interview with the consular authorities is also required. Pls. contact the Consulate for the forms. Anyone having at least two years of permanent residence in Canada can apply for this visa. A form must be filled out at the Consular Office. Pls. check Consular Fees. Applicants under twenty one (21) years old must also present a written consent from parents or tutors.

6. Diplomatic and Official Passports
Canadian passports must have a minimum validity of 6 months.

VI. Pets.

When travelling to Argentina with your pet (dogs and cats only) the following documents must be presented to the Consular office:
a) Rabies vaccination and a general health certificate, both signed by the veterinarian and certified by the Ministry of Agriculture Canada (animal branch).
b) Two (2) photographs of the animal (one front and another profile 4 by 4 centimeters) .

VII. Introduction of Firearms.

The permit for introduction of fire weapons in Argentina is given for hunting or recreational purposes only. Documents required:
a) Valid passport. Canadian passports must have a minimum validity of 6 months.
b) Three photographs of the applicant, passport size.
c) Valid hunting license or permit for carrying firearm including the date of expiration.
d) A full description of the firearm: brand, model, gauge (calliber), serial number and amount of ammunition
e) Address in Canada and Argentina as well as the date and point of entrance and departure in Argentina.
